DESCRIPTION: The ovoid bean galls in this instance are created by a Saw-Fly and measure up to 10mm in length. The smooth, hard galls are green in colour at first, and as the larva grows, soften and turn red. Each gall can have a thin red rim on the upper surface and is more or less pubescent. DISTRIBUTION: Common throughout Britian but easily misidentified. HABITAT: Found on the leaves of Goat, Grey and Eared Willows amongst others.
